Saskatoon residents will have to wait a little while longer to see what locations will be shortlisted as potential sites for a new downtown arena and entertainment district.
Originally the plan was to unveil the locations in a report to City Council this month, however the City will need another month before going public with the potential sites as the City waiting on a private owner to wrinkle out some details on their end.
Some of the locations that have been rumoured over the past few years include the Midtown Plaza parking lot located across the street from Hudson’s Bay on 22nd Street, the Toys “R” Us location on the opposite side of Midtown Plaza, the City Yards located next to the police station and on the west side of the Sid Buckwold Bridge next to the old Farmers’ Market location.
City administration is optimistic they’ll be ready to unveil the locations in preparation of July’s City Council meeting.
