The City of Saskatoon is experiencing a little bit of a backlog when it comes to mowing the medians and ditches on some City roadways.
During Monday’s regular City Council meeting, Ward 5 City Councillor Randy Donauer shared during Question Period that he has received some complaints from residents about the state of the grass along some roads including Circle Drive between Warman Road and the river.
Donauer said the grass along Idylwyld Drive and Avenue C is also high is some places. He mentioned he saw people living in the tall grass last week.
Darren Crilly, Director of Parks says the City has a new contractor for mowing this year and due to the late start to the warmer season and the contractor getting used to the new areas, are a couple of reasons behind the delays.
Crilly says they are monitoring the situation and are working with the contractor to ensure there are steps being taken to work towards achieving a higher standard when it comes to addressing the large grass.
Crilly adds that includes having the contractor work weekends.
