SGI is among the crown corporations which released its annual report this week and Minister Responsible for SGI Don Morgan says it was a busy year for their adjusters.
He says there was a 30 per cent increase over the company’s average claims volume which is largely due to storm activity including a massive hail storm on August 31st and September 1st.
Morgan says the 2021-22 fiscal year was a good one for both the Saskatchewan Auto Fund and SGI Canada.
While there were $926 million in claims paid out, SGI still made a profit of almost $82 million. Some of the other highlights included $89 million paid in rebates, $1.1 billion in the rate stabilization reserve and $926 million in claims incurred.
The annual report also says it awarded $161 million in discounts through the Safe Driver and Business Recognition programs in addition to the $89.3 million in rebates to customers with $100 going to everyone who had a vehicle registered as of March 9,2022.
SGI CANADA offers property and casualty insurance in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia. SGI CANADA sells products through a network of nearly 350 brokers who operate in more than 1,600 locations. In 2021-2022, SGI CANADA’s returns enabled it to provide a $57.5 million dividend back to the province.
