Around 5:15 p.m. on July 8th, Wynyard RCMP responded to a report of fuel theft at a business and found the suspect vehicle. Police say officers turned on their emergency lights and pulled up behind the pickup truck, which then rammed into them. The driver wouldn’t get out and struck two parked vehicles before driving away, hitting the driver’s side front corner of the police vehicle again. No injuries were reported.
Neighbouring detachments were alerted and Yorkton officers located the truck several times in that city and attempted traffic stops, to no avail. Around 10:45 that night, Yorkton RCMP found the truck abandoned, southeast of Dunleath. RCMP say the truck was reported stolen in Broadview on July 6th and the license plate was reported stolen from Springside on the 8th.
That same night, a white SUV was stolen outside of Yorkton and the next day, Kyle RCMP were told of a theft of a black Ford F-150. Investigators believe the thefts may be connected. The SUV was found abandoned in Eston. RCMP continue to investigate these incidents.
