It took all weekend and a bit of today (Mon), but areas in southeast Saskatchewan impacted by Friday’s severe weather have their power back on. Approximately 13-thousand customers were affected by the storm, which included at least one confirmed tornado and heavy winds. SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry says crews worked hard through the weekend. “We had to make repairs to our transmission system, which is the larger high voltage lines because several of them were knocked down. Once the majority of that work was done, we had to get out and clean up the damage to our distribution system, which is the smaller three-phase and single-phase lines.” Rocanville and Welwyn had their power restored today, the last communities to have their power restored.
