Battleford RCMP have laid charges in connection to an investigation where a Poundmaker Cree Nation man was assaulted on Sunday evening. A video was released on Facebook by Eleanore Sunchild which shows three males arriving while a man was unhooking a trailer, and reportedly he was assaulted while his six year old daughter was inside the truck. The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations suggests it was a racially motivated attack.

Officers responded around 6:50 Sunday evening and say all three males had left before they arrived. The victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. Forty-six year old Adam Lesmeister of Battleford was arrested Tuesday night and charged with assault. He appears in Battleford Provincial Court on August 22nd.
