The Prince Albert Raiders are hoping history repeats itself!
P-A named Jeff Truitt as the franchise’s 15th head coach in its history, replacing Marc Habscheid. Truitt spent the last four seasons as an assistant to Habscheid, who accepted a head coaching position in Austria earlier this month. Both were behind the Prince Albert bench when the Raiders won the 2019 Ed Chynoweth Cup as W-H-L champions. This isn’t the first time Truitt has moved up the ladder and replaced Habscheid as the 57-year-old Moose Jaw product took over Kelowna in the fall of 2004 and led the Rockets to a W-H-L the following spring. Prior to that, Truitt was an assistant coach under Habscheid on the Kelowna team that won the 2003 Ed Chynoweth Cup, then won the 2004 Memorial Cup as the host team. Truitt has a lengthy W-H-L coaching history, spending 21 years on staffs with Lethbridge, the Rockets, Red Deer and the Raiders. He holds a career .583 winning percentage in 253 games in three seasons as Kelowna’s bench boss.
