The City of Saskatoon will be submitting a request to the province to be designated as an Eligible Assistance Area under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program from the flooding on June 20th. It was approved at today’s (Mon) City Council meeting. PDAP covers uninsurable damage to properties caused by severe weather events.
City Administration believes the excessive rain on the 20th would qualify. On that day, a localized storm brought between 45 and 75 millimetres of rain to the eastern and southern parts of the city.
Once the City is designated as approved, the province would then arrange for the claims to be adjusted and make payments where appropriate.
The City will issue further information on how residents can apply once the PDAP assistance has been approved.
