Former Primer Minister Steven Harper has thrown his weight behind Pierre Poilievre to lead the Conservative Party of Canada.
Harper issued a video statement saying that Poilievre had been a strong minister in his government, for the past several years was the most vocal and effective critic of Trudeau liberals.
He also believes that Poilievre has talking about the issues such as slow growth, debt, inflation, and lack of job and housing opportunities. As well he says Poilievre has been bringing in the most new members and a new generation to the party which is how you win the next general election.
The leadership election will take place on September 10. There are five candidates vying for top spot in the party.
