One way you can help protect Saskatchewan’s waters from aquatic invasive species, otherwise known as AIS, is to stop at all provincial watercraft inspections if you have a boat or other watercraft with you. The province says inspection is mandatory in Saskatchewan, even if you are just passing through. So far this province has been successful in preventing the introduction and establishment of these AIS.
Watercraft is anything you would ride, including paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, sailboats and jet skis. Before returning home from out of province, coming to Saskatchewan to visit, or moving between different rivers and lakes in the province, follow the clean, drain, dry guidelines to ensure your watercraft is free of invasive species. The message from the province is to have your watercraft inspected and protect Saskatchewan waters.
