Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says globally, as of July 25th, there were 16,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox in 75 countries, and Canada had 745. The rundown is 346 Quebec, 326 in Ontario, 58 in British Columbia, 12 in Alberta, two in Saskatchewan and one in the Yukon.
To date, the federal government has deployed over 70,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine to the provinces and territories and from that number 27,000 have been administered. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. (CJGX)
