A public inquest into the death of Robert McAdam begins August 29th in Prince Albert. The 31 year old was found unresponsive in his cell at the Prince Albert Provincial Correctional Centre on December 27th of 2019. He was taken to Victoria Hospital by medical personnel where he was pronounced dead.
The Coroners Act states that unless the coroner is satisfied the person’s death was due entirely to natural causes and was not preventable, an inquest should be held.
The purpose of an inquest is to establish who died, when and where they died, and the medical cause and manner of death, and then the coroner’s jury can make recommendations to prevent similar deaths.
