A former on-floor captain is now the bench captain for the Saskatchewan Rush.
The National Lacrosse League franchise announced that Jimmy Quinlan has been promoted to head coach and associate general manager. Quinlan was captain of the Rush between 2011 and 13 when the franchise was located in Edmonton. The 40-year-old is the only Rush player to have his number retired. After his playing days were over, fan favourite Quinlan became a defensive coach in 2014, stepped away in 2018 only to re-join Saskatchewan last year as an offensive coach. When the Rush struggled to a 4-and-10 start last season and Jeff McComb was relieved his head coaching duties, Quinlan became associate coach with G-M Derek Keenan going back as head coach and Saskatchewan finished the season with four straight wins, only to just miss the playoffs.
