The NDP’s Critic for Jobs and Economy was joined by small business owners in Regina earlier this week(Thurs) to call on the province to reverse the utility rate hikes, considering the rising prices already putting pressure on the growth of small businesses.
SaskEnergy’s proposal for a rate increase of 19.9 per cent for small commercial properties was approved by the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel, and the new rate began on August 1st.
Aleana Young says, “Helping Saskatchewan small businesses amid 40-year high inflationary pressures should be a top priority of this government.”
Instead, she suggests, the Sask. Party blindsided them by raising their energy costs almost 20 per cent.
