Saskatchewan R-C-M-P continues to search for 74-year-old Lois Chartrand.
The Smeaton Detachment, along with Police Dog Services and Search and Rescue, an Alberta R-C-M-P helicopter, Saskatoon Police Service Air Services, the Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers, as well as community volunteers are assisting with the search. Any members of the public who wish to assist, are asked to check in with the search base is three kilometres east off of Highway 106, about 33 kilometres north of Smeaton. The R-C-M-P are asking that only people who are familiar with the area to help out with the search and insist that all searchers be signed in at the search base – this is both to ensure a methodological search and to ensure the searchers’ safety. In addition, searchers are asked to, please, ensure that you are wearing bright clothing and have proper footwear, food, drink and emergency supplies. Note that there is no cell service in the area.
