A scary couple of hours for a 15-year-old overdue canoer on Deadmoose Lake, northwest of Humboldt last Monday night on August 8th.
Around 9 o’clock, RCMP officers, conservation officers, the Humboldt Fire Department and STARS searched the area for the teen. The 15-year-old was then found safe on the east shore of the lake around 11:45.
There was also a similar incident on August 8th when Hudson Bay RCMP received a report of three adults and three youth canoers/kayakers who didn’t return from a trip to a nearby river around 11 o’clock.
RCMP made contact with the group and found they were located on a riverbank in a remote area. Officer patrolled the area which has heavy bush and swamplands by quad. A helicopter was then brought in by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to help with the search efforts in the early morning hours of August 9th. The group was located and the helicopter brought them to safety.
