Traffic restrictions have been lifted at 22nd Street West and Diefenbaker Drive, following a two-vehicle accident involving a vehicle transporting a hazardous, nuclear material. Saskatoon Police and the Fire Department responded at 9:50 this morning (Fri) and the area was quickly contained.
A measuring device that contains Class 7 Radioactive matter was inside an approved container being transported by one of the vehicles. As a precaution, the area was secured while the hazmat unit was called in. It was determined that the device was not leaking and the equipment was safely transferred to another vehicle and returned to its site.
One person had a minor injury but declined medical treatment.
Tow trucks moved the two vehicles. There were traffic restrictions in the area for about 90 minutes.
