Craig Dickenson revealed what shouldn’t come as a surprise to “Rider Nation” when it comes to Friday’s starting quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in B-C…..
Before Dickenson made that pronouncement, Fajardo had his scrum with the media after practice and had this to say about being pulled by the head coach late in the second quarter of last Friday’s 28-10 loss to the Lions in favour of Mason Fine…..
Fajardo has been hampered by a left knee injury for most of the last two months, wearing a cumbersome brace to protect the hinge. He completed eight of 13 passes, with two interceptions, for just 41 yards before giving way to Fine, who was 16 of 26 for 210 yards, an interception and a touchdown.
Besides the quarterback watch, Monday’s Green and White practice saw receivers Kyran Moore and Shaq Evans working with the starting offence, indicating they are ready to return to action from injuries. That comes as Duke Williams is expected to be out for at least two weeks with hip and foot issues. He left Friday’s game on crutches. In addition, running back Jamal Morrow broke a bone in his hand and had surgery Sunday. He is out six to eight weeks, leaving Frankie Hickson to start Friday in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, the Riders announced the signing of import defensive back C-J Reavis Monday. The 26-year-old Reavis returns to Saskatchewan after spending training camp with the club earlier this season. He previously spent time with Jacksonville and Atlanta of the N-F-L. The Roughriders also moved import linebacker Gary Johnson Junior to the suspended list. Following is the signing news release from the Green and White…..

DEFENSIVE BACK C.J. REAVIS RETURNS TO RIDERS
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back C.J. Reavis.
Reavis (6’0-198) returns to the Roughriders after attending training camp with the Club earlier this year. Prior to his time with the Roughriders, Reavis was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent. He made his NFL debut with the Jags in December of 2018, recording one tackle. After the 2018 season, Reavis went on to spend time with the Atlanta Falcons.
Reavis was highly recruited out of high school, receiving offers from Tennessee, North Carolina and Ohio State amongst others, before settling on Virginia Tech. From there, he transferred to East Mississippi, appearing on the popular show Last Chance U, and recording 40 tackles, eight pass break ups and two interceptions.
After one season at East Mississippi, he transferred to Marshall. The Virginia native flourished in his time with The Herd, recording 132 tackles, one interception and five tackles for loss in 21 games.
Additionally, the Club has moved American linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. to the suspended list.
