The Saskatchewan Roughriders are idle until Friday when they visit the B-C Lions. The Green and White have 5 wins, 5 losses for 10 points…good for 4th place in the Western Conference. B-C has 8 wins, 1 loss for 16 points…good for 2nd place in the West. The Riders’ next home game is Sunday, September 4th against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Prairie Football Conference’s 2022 regular-season is off until Sunday when all six teams are in action, including the seven-time defending champion Saskatoon Hilltops as they visit the Winnipeg Rifles. The Toppers have 2 wins, 0 losses for 4 points…tied for 1st place. Winnipeg has 0 wins, 2 losses for 0 points…tied for 5th place. The Hilltops’ next home game is Saturday, September 10th against the Regina Thunder. Game time is 7 p.m. at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. The U of Saskatchewan Huskies football team continues training camp today at Griffiths Stadium. The defending Hardy Cup-champion Dogs play a lone non-conference game as a tune-up to the 2022 Canada West Conference regular-season tomorrow when they host the Manitoba Bisons. Kick-off time is 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium. The Huskies’ regular-season schedule starts Friday, September 2nd when they visit the Calgary Dinos. Saskatchewan’s home opener is Friday, September 9th when they host the U-B-C Thunderbirds. Game time is 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

On the golf courses:
The Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur and Mid-Master Golf Championships continue today and run through Friday in Thornhill, Ontario. The 35th Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur is for competitors aged 25 and over while the Mid-Master is for golfers aged 40 and over. In addition to today being the second of four rounds in both age divisions, it’s the second and final day of the Mid-Amateur Inter-Provincial team championship. Saskatchewan is one of eight teams taking part with team members Brett Henry and Danny Klughart of Prince Albert, plus Scott Thompson of North Battleford. There are several other Saskatchewan golfers taking part.
The P-G-A of Canada’s Senior and Super Senior national championships start today and run through Friday in Medicine Hat. The field of 42 competitors includes Philip Jonas of Saskatoon. Today is the first of three rounds.
