The Saskatoon Meewasin by-election will be held September 26th, but the NDP candidate has been knocking on doors since early summer.
Nathaniel Teed estimates he has already been to 1,800 households and has heard many concerns.
“We are seeing frustration about this affordability crisis that’s happening,” Teed noted in a Zoom media call with NDP leader Carla Beck. “This riding is home to a lot of social workers, teachers and health care workers. These people are raising concerns about the states of health care system and funding for our education system.”
Beck notes that neither the Premier nor the Health Minister are talking about reports that the Royal University Hospital emergency department was operating at 200 per cent capacity last week.
Teed is a small business owner, arts fundraiser, and former educator.
The NDP is hoping to retain the Saskatoon Meewasin constituency which was narrowly won by former leader Ryan Meili in the last provincial election.
The other three candidates are Kim Groff (Saskatchewan Party), Jeff Walters (Liberals) and Mark Friesen (Buffalo Party).
