It’s not often you hear about whiteout conditions at this time of the year, but that was the case Monday, September 5 when RCMP received numerous 911 calls about multiple vehicles involved in a collision about 5 kilometres west of Morse on Highway 1.
This was mid-afternoon, and police say visibility at the time was near white-out conditions because of the high wind blowing salt residue from a dry lake bed blowing across the highway. Visibility was less than 15 metres or 50 feet.
Morse and Swift Current RCMP responded, and in total, 16 vehicles were involved. S everal people were transported to hospital with injuries, none of which were life-threatening.
