For the first time in seven months, retail sales across Canada saw a month to month decline of 2.5 per cent. That’s according to Statistic Canada’s report for July. Leading the decrease was lower sales at gas stations by 14.2 per cent. If you go by volume, sales at gas stations were lower by seven per cent. Gas prices fell by an average of 9.2 per cent in July. Statistics Canada says ongoing concerns related to a slowing global economy continued to put downward pressure on gas prices. In Saskatchewan, retail sales were down 3.7 per cent, but comparing this July to July of 2021, sales were up 7.6 per cent, and nationally, retail sales were up 8 per cent
