The COVID-19 viral RNA load in Saskatoon’s wastewater has increased by almost 25 per cent in the week leading up to September 21st, compared to the week previous, while the viral load is down by almost three per cent in Prince Albert and just over two per cent in North Battleford. Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan report that the viral load in Saskatoon is the second highest value ever observed during the pandemic. Prince Albert’s numbers are the fourth highest since the testing began and in North Battleford, it’s the fifth largest concentration of viral RNA in the wastewater. In all three cities, the virus is all Omicron subvariants.
