The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced a one-game suspension for quarterback Jake Dolegala following an impaired driving charge during the team’s bye week.
In a statement, the club said, “Drinking and driving is a significant problem in our province, one that can have dangerous consequences, and we are disappointed in Jake for his actions. We are taking this incident seriously and have suspended Jake for one game and notified the league office.”
The 25-year-old Dolegala is in his first season with the Green and White. He’s appeared in two games for the team this season, throwing for 154 yards on 16-of-35 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions. He started the Riders’ 31-21 loss to Toronto in Week 7 as the club had a number of players test positive for COVID-19. Dolegala was an undrafted free agent out of Central Connecticut and spent time on N-F-L practice rosters in Cincinnati, New England, Green Bay and Miami.
That was the big off-field news as the Riders returned to the practice field. The big on-field news was that veteran centre Dan Clark and receiver Duke Williams were working with the first team offence as they are coming off long-term injuries.
Prior to the workout session at Mosaic Stadium, the Roughriders announced the addition of three players to their practice roster. One of the three newcomers isn’t that new as Canadian defensive back Kosi Onyeka is back. He played six games earlier this season with the Green and White, registering one tackle. The other two practice roster additions are a pair of imports in defensive lineman Cody Roscoe and O-Lineman T-J Storment. Six-and-eight Saskatchewan, currently on a three-game losing streak, visits 12-and-2 Winnipeg this Friday. Following is the statement from the Riders regarding Dolegala and the practice roster additions’ news release…..
