A letter from five leaders of western states and provinces to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden is asking for pre-pandemic hours of operation to resume at U.S./Canada border crossings.
Premier Scott Moe was one of five leaders to sign the letter, which says that reduced hours of operation at land crossings hurt both the supply chain and economies of border communities in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Montana and North Dakota.
In 2021, bilateral trade between Canada and the U.S. reached $1 trillion.
On social media, Moe said that resuming normal operating hours will reduce inflationary pressures as well as ensuring efficient and steady flow of people and goods on both sides of the border.
He noted that the world is facing global supply chain issues which continue to disrupt the economies of both countries.
