Saskatchewan RCMP officers are joining police forces from across Canada this Friday through Thanksgiving Day for Operation Impact, to increase road safety.
A news release from the RCMP says it focuses on education and enforcement of the four most significant factors of serious and fatal collisions: impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and not wearing a seatbelt or wearing one incorrectly.
If you are on the road this weekend, the RCMP remind you to ensure everyone is buckled up, and give yourself time to get where you are going. Be respectful on the road, using your turn signals and not tailgating, and have a designated driver or take a cab or a bus if you plan to drink or use cannabis. If no safe ride is available, stay the night.
RCMP also advise to pull over and immediately call 911 if you see a suspected impaired driver.
