A Saskatchewan teacher has received a Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education. Jennifer Mason is a teacher with the Prairie Spirit School Division. She was a Pre-Kindergarten teach at Lord Asquith School until she became the Vice-Principal of Hepburn School this fall.
The school division says she is well known as an innovator and leader in exploratory play-based education for early learners. Mason says she is incredibly grateful to receive this award and has been fortunate to learn from many remarkable educators in Saskatchewan and elsewhere.
Prairie Spirit’s Director of Education, Darryl Bazylak, says she is regularly invited to be a presenter, facilitator and guest lecturer at USask’s College of Education. Prime Minister’s Award recipients are nominated by their colleagues.
