An investigation has been launched by the R-C-M-P and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service after a 46-year-old male inmate on remand was declared deceased Wednesday morning at the Regina Correctional Centre.

Following an altercation with another inmate, the 46-year-old man became unresponsive with corrections staff and E-M-S unable to revive him. He was declared deceased at about 8:50 a.m. Police are attempting to notify next of kin while the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
