The escapee from the Regional Psychiatric Centre that was still at large is back in custody. RCMP say 24 year old Matthew Shaundel Michel was arrested this afternoon at Sunset Estates, east of Saskatoon.
Police allege he travelled in a stolen vehicle from the Warman area to the Humboldt area. Officers tried to stop him near Humboldt, but the vehicle took off on Highway 5 toward Saskatoon, and then ran out of gas near Sunset Estates.
Michel walked into the residential area and officers from the Saskatoon and Humbold detachments, Saskatoon Traffic Services and Saskatoon RCMP Police Dog Services found him on the roof of a home. Police say he threatened self harm if approached and gave himself up after a short verbal negotiation.
He and 29 year old Kendal Lee Campeau escaped from the Regional Psychiatric Centre around 8:40 last night. A city-wide NotifyNow message was distributed by text and email to warn residents to secure their homes. Campeau was recaptured without incident at a home in the 500 block of Douglas Crescent in Confederation Park.
