A 32-year-old man from La Ronge is back in court next Monday in connection to a carjacking incident.
Cory Halkett is facing charges of unlawful confinement, armed robbery, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose and use of a firearm in the commission of an offence.
On October 18, at approximately 4 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP responded to a robbery call and found a disabled vehicle parked on the side of Highway 263.
Police say their investigation determined that a man approached the vehicle, pointed a gun at those inside and forced them to stay inside. They were later able to escape and call police. No one was injured and a suspect was found near the vehicle.
When told he was under arrest, the suspect fled into nearby forest. Around 8 a.m. the next morning, police then received several calls that the suspect was on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
An arrest was made with assistance from Prince Albert Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan and Conservation Officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch.
