The white tail deer season opens today in Saskatchewan which also means it’s Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day. Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation Executive Director Darrell Crabbe says the conservation practices of landowners, hunters, anglers and trappers has preserved an industry that generated over $600-million last year. Crabbe feels their economic impact is unique by driving money from urban to rural areas. The wildlife federation boss is hoping people celebrate the occasion by wearing camouflage clothing and send pictures into the organization for distribution on social media. Crabbe also warns drivers to be on the lookout for white tail deer on the province’s roads and highways.
