North Battleford Crime Reduction Team, while seeking a wanted male, travelled to the Eagles Lake area where they found and arrested the suspect they were looking for, as well as three other people who were also wanted on warrants from the Saskatchewan RCMP.
The four people arrested by the Crime Reduction Team have now been charged by Major Crimes in relation to a death last weekend on the Waterhen First Nation. The victim is Jeremy Ernest who is from the community.
On November 12 around 4:30 in the morning, Meadow Lake RCMP responded to a report of a man in medical distress at a home on Waterhen Lake First Nation. The 36-year-old man was pronounced deceased by EMS and RCMP say the death was a homicide.
Thirty-one-year-old Trevor Alexander of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation; Hanna Durocher, 28-years-old, of Eagles Lake; and 34-year-old Tyson Lasas of Waterhen Lake First Nation are each charged with one count of second-degree murder.
Trevor Alexander has also been charged with one count of aggravated assault and 23-year-old Tasha Opikokew of Battleford is charged with one count, accessory after the fact.
They will all appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Thursday.
