Health critic Vicki Mowat says the provincial government needs to set targets for emergency room wait times after a four-year-old with cancer spent twenty hours in a Regina ER earlier this week.
Jream Pratt has brain cancer and multiple tumors that result in frequent seizures. Her mother Janna Pratt was at the Legislature on Wednesday talking about the long time it took to get a bed in the pediatric ward at the Regina General Hospital.
Mowat says the situation is not much better in Saskatoon. Parents have told her that makeshift beds were being made out of chairs at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital due to long waits and a shortage of beds in the emergency room.
