Battleford RCMP are investigating an armed robbery where a man was shot at a home in the village of Delmas west of North Battleford. Officers responded around 10 Friday night and were told three people had entered the home and a man in his 50s was injured in the arm when one of the suspects opened fire and a shot was fired at a second victim who was able to flee and wasn’t hit. The man in his 50s was transported to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Forty-three year old David Barthel was arrested at a nearby home and charged with robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, forcible entry, careless use of a firearm and shooting a gun with intent. A 16 year old was arrested the next day in the Onion Lake area and is facing the same charges along with possession of a weapon contrary to an order. There is a warrant for the arrest of an 18 year old man from the Cut Knife area. Jesse Sokwaypnace, also known as Jesse Fox is facing the same charges as the 16 year old.

Two other suspects were arrested near Delmas on Friday night, when they were found inside a parked vehicle registered to one of the suspects. A 21 year old woman was released without charges. Twenty-nine year old Lakota Pooyak was arrested on outstanding warrants for a parole violation but is not facing any charges from this armed robbery.
