RCMP in Nanaimo B.C. say a driver of a vehicle was found passed out in the driver’s seat, along with her infant strapped in its baby seat. A dog was also in the vehicle.
This was around 10:30 in the morning – last Thursday, in a mall parking lot and police say the vehicle was in park with the engine still running.
Officers were alerted to the vehicle after a report was received from another detachment that the same vehicle has been involved in a hit and run accident earlier the same day.
RCMP say officers tried to rouse the woman by yelling and knocking on windows, to no avail, so the Fire Department and Health and Safety were called to remove everyone from the vehicle.
RCMP say the woman was two-and-a-half times over the legal limit for alcohol and she is now facing charges. The baby was turned over to its father.
