A 30-year-old Saskatoon man and a 31-year-old woman from Martensville face a large number of charges, mostly to do with drug trafficking and weapons, following an early Saturday morning unsuccessful attempt to evade Saskatoon Police on Avenue J South.

At about 12:30 a.m. on December 3, officers executed a traffic stop on an out-of-province vehicle in the 300 block of Avenue J South. While the vehicle failed to stop, a tire deflation device was successfully deployed with the vehicle found abandoned a short time later in the 300 block of Winnipeg Avenue.

The first suspect was found close by, thanks to fresh tracks in the snow while the second suspect was apprehended while trying to flee through back yards by a combination of the Air Support Unit guiding a canine team.

The investigation resulted in police seizing a 12-gauge shotgun, 10-gauge shotgun, air rifle, bear spray, a knife, various rounds of unspent ammunition, a large quantity of hydromorphone pills, $360 in Canadian currency and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
