The provincial government had previously announced a new Revenue Agency would be established to pursue greater autonomy in tax collection, and at the Legislature today (Mon), the Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act was introduced. Finance Minister Donna Harpauer explains that the new Act creates the framework for a new Treasury Board Crown Corporation, the Saskatchewan Revenue Agency, which would be responsible for administering taxes and related programs in the province, and that would include taking control of the provincial portion of the corporate income tax system from the federal government.

She adds that in depth, multi-year work is needed to establish a structure for this new corporate income tax system. Harpauer says, “This transition demonstrates that our government will take the necessary action to stand up for Saskatchewan.”
