First up…Spokane!
The Saskatoon Blades begin their longest road trip of the 2019-20 W-H-L season Wednesday night against the Chiefs. The journey continues on to, in order, Everett, Seattle, Portland, Tri-Cities, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat…the last game against the Tigers on November 30. It will be anything but easy for the 12-8-2 Bridge City Bunch as the combined record of the seven teams, prior to Tuesday night’s play, was 81 wins and 59 losses…the loss total included setbacks by the seven squads that occurred in overtime or in a shootout…both of which earn the losing team a point in the standings.
The 13-day road swing is the last inter-conference trip for the Blue and Gold’s trio of overage players. Left winger Riley McKay started his W-H-L career in Spokane while defencemen Scott Walford and Nolan Kneen came to Saskatoon from Victoria and Kamloops, respectively.
Game time Wednesday from the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena is 9:05 p.m., Saskatchewan Time, for the Blades and Chiefs. The Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show on 98-COOL begins at 8 o’clock.
