On December 7, just before three o’clock in the afternoon, Rosetown RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision east of Rosetown, along Highway #7. Initial investigation determined a pick-up truck was traveling west and collided with a car traveling east.

The driver of the truck, a 78-year-old man and the passenger, a 63-year-old woman both from Calgary, were declared deceased on scene by EMS. The truck had two other occupants who were both taken to hospital for what were described to be serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The driver, and lone occupant of the car, was taken to hospital for what were described to be serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Both lanes of the Highway were closed for about seven hours. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
