An impaired man, driving at high speed and in a dangerous manner, was eventually arrested by the Saskatoon Police Service, with the assistance of the canine unit late Thursday evening.
At about 10:45 p.m. on December 8, police saw a van going at a high rate of speed that ran a stop sign at the intersection of 21st Street and Avenue R South. Other officers tracked the vehicle until it lost control and crashed into a yard in the 1700 block of 18th Street West. The driver and lone occupant of the van attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested without further incident, with the help of the canine unit, in the 600 block of Avenue P South. It was confirmed that the vehicle the suspect had been driving was stolen. The suspect is a 35-year-old man who faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, impaired driving, mischief and refusal to comply with a demand.
