Saskatoon’s Meewasin Valley Authority is participating in and leading a number of sessions at the 15th Conference of the Parties, otherwise known as COP15, to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal, which continues through the 19th.

A news release from Meewasin says they will share the stories of prairie conservation on a global scale and will highlight its work in conservation in urban areas.

The MVA will also be connecting with national conservation organizations on best practice and will be appealing to potential foundations and government funders for support.

Meewasin is offsetting the environmental impact of travel through the planting of native species and restoration through the Valley and beyond.
The conservation group is participating in two panels Saturday.

One is about increasing the area and access to green and blue spaces in urban areas and the other looks at conservation in Canada over the past decade.
There is one Sunday on sub-national and local leadership, then next Thursday, Meewasin is hosting a panel on women leading the way in prairie conservation, alongside the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, Metis Nation-Saskatchewan, Wanuskewin, and Parks Canada.
