Canada resettled more refugees than any other country in the world last year.
That’s according to a news release from the federal government, which states that as the world faces the worst global refugee crisis in recent history, more needs to be done.
Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced new funding today (Tues) for partner organizations to help expand Canada’s pilot program to help more skilled refugees build their careers in this country, and to give employers more access to a new pool of talent.
Through the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, partner organizations help skilled refugees overseas connect with employers who need to fill critical labour shortages in occupations like nurse aides and personal support workers, chefs and cooks and skilled tradespeople.
Once a candidate receives a job offer, they can apply to immigrate to Canada using EMPP measures that remove barriers refugees may experience due to their displacement.
