For 20 minutes Tuesday, it looked like the Medicine Hat Tigers had figured out how to end a couple of lengthy winning streaks for the Saskatoon Blades. Unfortunately for the Bengals, hockey games are 60 minutes long and the Blue and Gold dominated the final 40 for an 8-3 triumph.
The result was the Blue and Gold’s seventh straight win and the ninth consecutive head-to-head victory over Medicine Hat, dating back to December, 2019. Former Blade Brendan Lee notched a power play goal as the Tigers out-shot Saskatoon 11-3 and led on the scoreboard 1-0 through one period. However, the Bridge City Bunch responded with six straight goals and coasted to their 22nd triumph in 27 games. Eleven of the 18 Blue and Gold skaters registered a scoring point with seven picking up multiple points, led by forward Conner Roulette (pictured). The 19-year-old Winnipeg product posted two goals and two assists for the second time in three games. Defenceman Tanner Molendyk had a goal and two helpers, Brandon Lisowsky, Egor Sidorov and Justin Lies all had a goal and an assist while Vaughn Watterodt and captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere found the back of the net as well. In addition, rookie forward Jordan Keller chipped in three assists and Trevor Wong had a couple of helpers. Saskatoon product Ethan Chadwick notched his sixth straight goaltending win, stopping 31 of 34 shots by the 11-16-5 Tigers. Named the fourth-ranked team in this week’s C-H-L Top 10 list earlier Tuesday, the Blades return to action Friday when they take on Spokane for the first time in 1,122 days and host the Chiefs at SaskTel Centre for the first time in 1,519 days. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Brennan Sonne, Molendyk and Keller plus the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
