USask researchers say their latest measurements of SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA load in Saskatoon’s wastewater has decreased by 34.1 per cent, based on average of 3 individual daily measurements, in the latest reporting period. All strains of COVID-19 are some form of Omicron and the decrease in viral RNA load indicates a reduction in SARS CoV-2 infections in Saskatoon which is classified as medium.

On the other hand, the SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA load in Prince Albert’s wastewater has increased by 147.3 per cent. Again, all some form of Omicron and while there has been a sudden jump in viral RNA load in wastewater in P.A., it is also classified as medium.

In North Battleford the viral RNA in the city’s wastewater has increased by 177.1 per cent. North Battleford’s viral RNA load is also considered medium and is all Omicron.

The Global Institute for Water Security says these results reflect a trend in which values are out of phase with Saskatoon changing first then followed by PA and the Battlefords.
