An officer with the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan says a driver being arrested and their vehicle impounded yesterday started with a hit on the ALPR which is the automated license plate reader. It came up as an expired plate and no insurance. The driver was suspended and on the impound list as well.
The officer says there was also a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old in the back seat with the five year old just in a lap belt – no booster seat.
As well, there was the smell of burnt marijuana in the vehicle and the driver allegedly admitted to smoking pot earlier in addition to having two warrants for unpaid tickets.
New tickets were issued for all the infractions noted, the driver was arrested, and a 90 day impound was placed on the vehicle.
