The Saskatoon Blades lost for just the second time in five weeks on Friday, both times to the Winnipeg ICE!
Daniel Hauser stopped 23 shots for his second shutout of the season and his 20th win, personally, on behalf of Winnipeg as they blanked the Bridge City Bunch 2-0. Previous to Friday, the Blades last lost a game on November 25 at SaskTel Centre to the ICE. It was the first time this season, in 31 games, that the Blue and Gold had gone goal-less in a game. Evan Friesen snapped a scoreless tie with less than a minute to go in the second period and Ty Nash added the insurance tally mid-way through the third frame as the ICE improved to 27-5-0 for the season and moved four points ahead of the 25-6-0 Blades for top spot in the W-H-L’s East Division. Saskatoon product Ethan Chadwick was the losing goaltender for the first time since a November 4 home game against Everett. He stopped 22 shots as Winnipeg out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 24-23 in a fast-paced game that only had six minor penalties called and 47 faceoffs. The same teams meet Saturday at 5:05 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 4:45. Following is the official game summary, the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast and Les Lazaruk’s Post-Game Show interview with head coach Brennan Sonne…..
