During the New Year’s Eve Checkstop the Saskatoon Police Service screened approximately 300 drivers with five being suspended and having their vehicle’s impounded for cannabis use while several drivers were tested for alcohol, but no charges or suspensions were issued.

In December there were seven sobriety checkstops with over 2000 drivers checked and over 200 roadside breathalyzers administered. Three drivers were suspended at roadside for alcohol, 21 suspended for cannabis and three Criminal Code Charges for Impaired Driving were issued.

The December sobriety checkstops were a partnership between the Saskatoon Police Service, Corman Park Police, Dalmeny Police, RCMP and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
