RCMP say officers have begun to see a pattern where it seems people are turning themselves in for the purpose of smuggling drugs into prison.

A news release from Manitoba RCMP states the Selkirk detachment was alerted about a hitchhiker early Tuesday morning who had flagged down a driver on Main Street, and wouldn’t get out of the vehicle, causing a disturbance. Police say 26-year-old William Fuller had several outstanding warrants, including one for parole and that he repeatedly demanded that he be taken to a certain prison.

It was suspected that he had ingested drugs, and was attempting to smuggle them, so he was transported to hospital as a precaution. The RCMP release says reports that he ended up passing 34 grams of methamphetamines contained inside a balloon.

Fuller was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  A picture with the drugs seized is with this story online.
