The Saskatoon Blades carried over the positives from Wednesday’s 5-4 overtime loss to Moose Jaw into Friday and a 6-1 triumph over the arch-rival Prince Albert Raiders.
Branded as the “Bananas” for the second time in as many years and wearing special “Bananas” jerseys, the Bridge City Bunch charged out of the gate with four goals in the first period and held P-A to 18 shots for the game. Eleven different Blue and Gold skaters had at least one point, six of them with two points, paced by 17-year-old sophomore centre Misha Volotovskii (pictured), who scored twice. Brandon Lisowsky, Egor Sidorov, Tanner Molendyk and Jordan Keller also tallied for the 28-9-4 Bananas with captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere, Vaughn Watterodt and Conner Roulette adding a pair of assists each. Sloan Stanick broke up Ethan Chadwick’s shutout bid midway through the second period for the lone goal for the 15-25-3 Raiders. Saskatoon has won all five head-to-head meetings with Prince Albert so far this season with a sixth collision scheduled for Saturday, this time at the Art Hauser Centre.
