Fifth-rated defeated second-ranked Saturday night, a victory that may very well keep the Saskatoon Blades in the C-H-L’s Top 10 rankings next week.
The fifth-rated Bridge City Bunch played “Saskatoon Blades” hockey in a 4-2 triumph over the second-ranked Seattle Thunderbirds. The Blue and Gold scored at least four goals, allowed no more than two, were disciplined, won the special teams battle and played a solid team game in both ends of the ice – back-stopped by steady to spectacular goaltending. Egor Sidorov broke a 1-1 tie with a late second period power play goal, then added two more tallies in the third period for his third hat-trick of the season, while Austin Elliott (pictured) stopped 30 of 32 shots as the Blades improved their record to 27-8-3. Trevor Wong opened the game’s scoring for Saskatoon, who finished with a 3-2-0 record against U-S Division visitors this season. Saskatoon product and defenceman Kevin Korchinski closed out the game’s scoring as the T-Birds fell to 30-7-2 overall, winding up their six-game East Division road trip with a 3-3-0 record. The Bridge City Bunch play four games in five nights next week, starting with a Tuesday trip to Moose Jaw to face the Warriors. Game time is 7 o’clock with CJWW’s broadcast beginning at 6:45 p.m. Following is the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L, audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast and Post-Game Show interviews with Sidorov, head coach Brennan Sonne and defenceman Spencer Shugrue…..
